Stott & Paws Physiotherapy

MCSP, HCPC, ACPAT category A, RAMP Registered, Chartered Physiotherapist.

Here at Stott and Paws Physiotherapy we are lucky enough to offer our clients the option of Physiotherapy sessions in their own home as well as a clinic based in Bedworth. But how do you know which to pick?

Mostly this is down to preference. But there are some things to think about when deciding which would be best:

  • How do you feel when you go to an appointment? Would you feel more comfortable with someone coming to you to complete the appointment in your own home?
  • Do you want acupuncture as part of your treatment? This is only an option for humans and can only be used as treatment at the Bedworth clinic due to licensing.
  • For dogs think about how they are in the vets/going to the groomers. Are they anxious in new environments and would be better at home? Do they guard the home and are they unsettled when new people come to the house?
  • How does your dog travel in the car? Do they get anxious or are they calm and do not mind being in the car?
  • Are there lots of distractions at home? E.g. other pets / children / housework. Do you have enough space for a session to be completed at home? For humans this would be enough room for a portable treatment bed if required. For dogs we need a small, clear floor space big enough for the Physiotherapist and dog to turn around in.
  • Home visits allow the Physiotherapist to assess the home itself and how it can be adapted to be more user friendly if required. This also allows us to be more accessible to those that are unable to travel to the clinic.

We have tried to make the clinic a comfortable, relaxing environment. We believe being based at a house helps to keep those that get worried about going to healthcare environments calmer for the session. If you chose a clinic session for yourself, remember to wear clothing that is suitable to access the area being assessed and treated. If you are bringing your dog, remember to bring their favourite treats and toys to help engage them in the session, making it a rewarding and positive experience.

There are many things to consider when deciding which is best for you and your dog. We are happy to discuss if you are undecided when you enquire on which we think may be better for you/your dog. You can do a mixture of home visits and clinic visits depending on your schedule if this is what you would prefer, once you chose you are able to change your mind, we understand circumstances can change. We do not have set days and times for home visits or being based at the clinic. We work appointments to suit you and your dog Monday to Friday between 9am – 7pm.
